MOSCOW, Sep 7 (PRIME) -- Russia hopes that business interests of its companies in Guinea, where a military coup took place, will not suffer, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.
“We are, of course, closely following what is happening in Guinea. … We expect that in any case the business interests of our entrepreneurs, our companies will not suffer, that their interests will be ensured,” Peskov told reporters.
Peskov said that Russia sees the situation in Guinea as a major negative factor, which might affect the aluminum market. Yet there are no plans as of now to introduce any support measures for the Russian aluminum giant RUSAL operating in the country, despite fears of the company that it will lose up to one-third of its aluminum output due to the Guinean crisis.
“No support options have been considered so far,” Peskov said.
Raw material supplies from Guinea, the world’s largest bauxite producer, account for 45% of RUSAL’s total supplies of the material.
